I Did That | DIY Limewash Bedroom Fireplace Project

"I did that!" Nothing beats the pride and accomplishment of turning your envisioned “dream room” into reality. Do-it-yourself enthusiast, Kiara @_cypribrina beautifully transforms her primary bedroom into a luxurious hotel-like retreat with a Touchstone Sideline Elite Forte® Smart Electric Fireplace, custom built surround mantel, and picture frame TV.

Choosing the Right Electric Fireplace

Kiara discovered Touchstone Electric Fireplaces via the This Georgia Clay YouTube channel. Inspired by @thisgeorgiaclay's many electric fireplace DIY projects, Kiara and her husband built a custom media accent wall featuring the 72-inch Touchstone Sideline Elite® Smart Electric Fireplace last year.

When planning their bedroom fireplace accent wall, they chose the 40-inch Touchstone Elite Forte Smart Electric Fireplace. This smaller traditional size is well-suited for a bedroom.

Kiara shares, “We already had a Touchstone fireplace in our living room, so choosing one for our bedroom was an easy decision. We've been impressed with the quality, realistic flame effects, and smart features. After such a great experience with our first fireplace, we knew we wanted another Touchstone for this project.”

Project Goal: A Peaceful, Cozy Bedroom

Kiara explains her vision, “We wanted our bedroom to feel like a true adult space; peaceful, cozy, and somewhere we could relax after a long day. We were inspired by the “This Georgia Clay” fireplace in her primary bedroom and wanted to create our own version that fit our home and style.”

Kiara and her husband create a slim profile surround mantel with layered trim for a 3-dimensional look. The fireplace wall is painted with a soothing neutral limewash to match the room.

“The 40” Sideline Elite Forte was the perfect size for our design. We love its slim recessed profile, realistic flames, and smart home compatibility. It gave us the custom built-in look we wanted without taking up extra space,”

Kiara’s personal favorite features are the realistic flame display and easy-to-use technology.

“We turn it on, even when we don't need the heat, because it creates such a relaxing atmosphere. We also love being able to control it with the app and Google Home.”

DIY Lessons Learned

While reflecting on her hard work, Kiara shares, “We learned that one feature can completely change the look and feel of a room. Adding a fireplace made our bedroom feel more finished and gave it a space we genuinely enjoy spending time in and don’t want to leave.”

“It finally feels like the bedroom we always imagined. We love ending the day here; whether we're watching TV, eating dinner, or just enjoying the fireplace. It's cozy, functional, and has become our favorite room in our home.”
